Well, here we are.

I have been told for several years now that I need to start a blog to document our lives. Well, here we are.

So, were do we start? The beginning right?

Alex and I got married when I was 19 and he was 20. He built our home when he was 19 (along with his dad and help from some other family members). Still though, it blows my mind to think that a 19 year old can do that. We never intended on staying in this home as long as we have. It was a starter home. A two bedroom, one bath starter home.

Well, life happens and things don’t go as planned. Once we realized that having the family we both wanted more than anything wasn’t going to be an easy path, any plans we had to build our next home were put on the back burner. Our main focus (physically, emotionally, and financially) was pointed towards our dream of having a family. 8 years into that journey we were blessed with a baby boy and 2.5 years later, a sweet baby girl completed us.

When we finally turned our attention back to our home, we decided that this was the place we wanted to stay. I spent years drawing up plans. I would draw up different floor plans attempting to maximize our space to make it work for us.

Sketch, get frustrated with the results, trash them, repeat.

I just knew that I wanted our home to function for our lives, be a retreat that we loved coming home to, and be cozy and beautiful, but still livable. Slowly, we are getting there. Is it perfect? No. It will always have little “quirks” that come along with completely reconfiguring the way the house was originally designed, but it is ours and we love it!

I think most everyone thinks that our renovation started in 2019 with the kitchen (picture above was taken in 2020 not long after that part was completed), but it actually started a few years before that when we added a third bedroom and converted the garage into living space. It is crazy to me to think how far it has come. This is also the same time that I fell in love with design, baking, and cooking (you will see some of that here as well)!

This space will be a place for me to document and share our renovations, share our ideas, share tips on DIY, and even some baking tips and favorite recipes! The number one question I get asked is where I got an item, so I will share all of that here as well.

In sharing our story, I hope we can be an inspiration to others to make there home beautiful and filled with yummy treats!
