A Grown Up Little Girl’s Room

Liv was hit with a nasty stomach bug yesterday, so I ended up working from home while sitting on the couch curled up next to these two. Pey ended up home early as well because of the weather, so they both snuggled up on either side of me while I worked for the day. It was definitely a day to be thankful for technology and the ability to work from my couch so I could easily be there when they needed me.

On a whim, I decided to sign up for the One Room Challenge (see all the beautiful rooms here for inspiration – there are so many incredible transformations happening). We have been working up plans for Adison’s room for a few weeks now, so the timing was right. It went through a phase one renovation when we redid the flooring, but that was about as far as we got into it.

All that tile. Ripping up all that tile was the absolute worst, but it was so worth it!

Now, I am ready to give her a grown up version of a little girl’s room that she has patiently been waiting for.

Her room was cute, but the furniture didn’t really work with the layout of her room and the sheetrock is pretty beat up. It is a small room, but we definitely plan on bringing the drama in here.

We already sold most of her furniture. We knew we would be replacing it, and it will be much easier to renovate it without having to climb over and around everything.
I put together a little mood board for the back wall to see how everything would come together. I already have the fringe chandelier, and she loves it! I wanted to make sure everything else tied in well with it. Seeing this just made more even more excited to get started!
She decided she wanted the walls to be a deep blue, so that is what we are going to do! I think (70% sure) that I am going to paint the walls a version of Waterloo by Sherwin Williams (you can see it here). It is a pretty blue, but I may have them deepen it up a little more by adding in a little more black than what normally would be.
I had originally planned on doing shiplap on the walls, but now I am leaning more towards beadboard. I think it will be so pretty painted in a deep blue especially when paired with gold accents (like this bed), white oak (like these nightstands), and a beautiful rug with blush accents (like this one). It will also be about half the cost of shiplap which is a welcome advantage! Bringing in pinks and golds will bring in a girly touch to all of the deep blues.
I am working on mood boards for the other walls, (I will share those once I get them ready), but I think we are ready to start ordering materials. We are going to wait until after spring break to get started, but I can’t wait to see it come together!
